Mission to the Moon
Saturday September 20, 2003
On September 20, 1963, President John F. Kennedy proposed a joint mission with the Soviet Union to land a man on the moon. This proposition caused both applause and skepticism, but was never fulfilled due to the assassination of President Kennedy just two months later. In 1969, the United States single-handedly won the "space race" by landing a man on the moon.
