Arrival of the Statue of Liberty

On June 19, 1885, the United States received the Statue of Liberty from the people of France as a gift of friendship. Designed by French sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the 151-foot statue was reassembled in its new home in New York City on October 28, 1886.
