Andrew Johnson - Saved by One Vote

Friday May 16, 2008
Never say one vote won't make a difference. On May 16, 1868, President Andrew Johnson was a lucky man. The Senate failed by just one vote to convict Andrew Johnson of attempting to undermine Congress. As a result of this and another vote on May 26th which again failed by just one vote. As a result he was not removed from office. The country would not experience another impeachment trial until the presidency of William Jefferson Clinton.
