Fun Friday Poll: Which Era of American History Do You Find Most Fascinating?

Friday March 27, 2009
For this first "Fun Friday" features, please let me know which of the following eras of American History you find the most fascinating. I was limited to ten choices for this poll but there are others that I wanted to include. Therefore, if there is an era like the Gilded Age that you find more fascinating than these, please add it into the comment field.

There never has been a better time to be alive and kicking as the now is. It has been an amazing time of change from the time I was a young lad just itching to see it all and become prt of the greatest time in history.
Absolutely am glad I am here now and have been for over seventy years. So much to learn and so little time to learn it.

(2) J Tarbell says:

Why does your poll on favorite eras or American history fail to list the Gilded Age of Robber Barons that lasted from 1865-1900. No other era of American history had more to do with the America we live in today.

Yep–the Gilded Age, but then I am a curator of a Victorian Mansion (more like a really large house, but he was a Wall Street guy).

Colonial/Revolutionary isn’t just the most fascinating, it is the most important also. Our constitution and our guiding principles as a nation were defined then. Look to the Progressive Era and the Modern Era to see how far away from our ideals we have gone and why we’ve got such a selfish, corrupt, and narcissistic society today.

jazz age…depression era…the how’s and why’s of it all might prove very interesting in today’s political and moral times.
