"I Have a Dream"

Friday August 28, 2009
On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous "I have a Dream" speech. Standing at the Lincoln Memorial, he used the words from the Declaration of Independence to emphasize his position: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." 200,000 people marched on Washington to demonstrate for civil rights.

It’s time for another March on Washington. There have been several great marches. The Bonus Army March led to the GI Bill of Rights.
The Civil Rights March opened the people to the unified nature of the movement, and confused those Senators who had halted the civil rights acts.
The Peace Marches encouraged the Democratic Convention debacle which led to Nixon and the retraction of the draft.
Now, we need a March of the Patient Patients. All those people whose children do not have coverage. All the people with pre-existing conditions. All those who are out of work.
Let Congress watch and wonder what they have done.
