President Ford was the only president to have been president and vice-president without being elected to either office. He was appointed by Richard Nixon to replace Vice-President Spiro Agnew who resigned. He then took over the presidency when Nixon resigned over the Watergate Scandal. Ford chose to pardon Nixon even though this meant his loss of the presidency. He died at the age of 93 on December 26, 2006.
