Events:


1917 - The draft began in America for World War I.

1932 - The Bonus Expeditionary Force, a group of World War I veterans who had massed in Washington asking for payment of a bonus they had been promised, were attacked with tear gas and their camps destroyed by troops led by General Douglas MacArthur.

1969 - Apollo 11 landed on the moon and Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon.

1973 - The War Powers Act was passed.

1976 - Viking 1 landed on Mars.
