Events:


1675 - The New England Confederation declared war on King Philip.

1777 - (9th - 11th) The Battle of Brandywine occurred during the American Revolution. George Washington's troops were forced towards Philadelphia.

1850 - (9th - 12th)Congress adopted five resolutions based on Henry Clay dealing with slavery in new states and territories. This was the Compromise of 1850.

1965 - The Department of Housing and Urban Development was created under Lyndon B. Johnson. Secretary Robert Weaver became the first African-American cabinet member.
